Sprummer

It is sprummer(spring/summer if you couldn't guess) in Livermore.  Here is a picture of my favorite spot in the gardenEtsy_024_2.  The concrete ball that you see, was an attempt my Big J and myself to make a "sphere fountain".  You know, a round ball with a smooth sheen a water bubbling out of it.  How we did ours:  we got some fine sand and put it in a wheel barrel, we then attempted to make a mold out of a large beach ball by sticking it in the damp sand, pulled it out gently then poured concrete in it. We did it a half ball at a time then we were going to put a pipe in the middle and fuse the two sides together.  Well, it didn't work out that well and that little dot is the pipe that we ended up smashing.  It does make a nice garden ornament.  And it is one of my favorite memories with Big J. If you want to learn how to make things right, try a cool site called www.instructables.com

Daily addiction #12

My daily addiction #12 is: calenders.  You know how when people are board they twiddle their thumbs, or chew on their nails?  Well, I write/draw out calenders.  I remembering doing it even when I was a little preteen!  Not only do I love writing out dates, I love planners.  I am pretty sure I get 2 or 3 every year. I get a new one and transfer all the information over from the old to the new. And I am always on the search for the perfect planner.  I have tried to design and make a few of them, actually that is how I learned how to bind books.  I am sure you are now shifting in your seat a little uncomfortable. You might have a little bit to much info on me, but let me explain.  My love of calenders is making up for the fact that I cant plan anything.  I have tried so many times to make a 5 year plan but to no avail.  That use to bug me, but I am pretty comfortable with the fact that I do have a rare case of adult HHANP(hobby hopper and Non planer disease). (it is not contagious).  So if you cant think of a birthday present for me, you will never go wrong with a planner/calender.

Love/Hate Saga of Martha

Images Martha Stewart has done a great service to the stay at home mom.  I think that she has made staying home a fun creative place to be.  She has also renamed "stay at home" to "Home keeping" which is a lot more vogue. I was talking to Emily about it, and she really likes Martha because she has made staying at home an art.  Here is my problem....when I think about my art...I get really anal... I don't want anybody touching it(until it is done)  and I don't want my pieces of art to get ruined.  So if I think about my house being art, well lets put it this way, I pretty sure it would be in a thrift store way in the back of the pile.  My house is not dirty, and not clean.  It is always in a state of chaos, and something is always broken.  So when I think about home keeping as an art, I don't think I would let my kids live here.  Or my husband, or the dog. I would get so caught up in what the appearance is, I would go crazy.  So what is the happy medium?
