Daily #12808
The past few days I have been thinking more deeply about things....Life and death, you know the lighter side of things. My Step Grandfather, the only Grandfather I have known died this week. He was my grandmothers fourth marriage and he seemed to heal her after a hard life up to that point. He was kind, loving and generous. He was also brilliant. He would show us item, after item, after picture of things he had made with his hands. A miniature steam engine, a electric guitar from scratch, and kit car. He was salt of the earth, and I don t use that term lightly. He was a true Texan, a true gentleman, and a great grandfather.
President Gorden B. Hinckley also died the same day. I looked up to him as a great leader and a great man. He took on great assignments with grace and stamina. These two men were from opposites sides of the world, different beliefs and different lives, but the both gave everything they had to make the world better. They made my world better. They both made me want to be a better person, kinder, smarter and more loving. I thank both of them for their service, love and life.
Such a serious obsession, but I agree with you. There are some really great people out there who touch our lives in ways we can ever fathom. I guess our hope is that someday we can touch someone's life as much.
